We are living in a time of opportunity; the internet has open the doors to our ability to make money with little to no investment.

This article aims to help those who want to create a new business, earn extra income or add a new channel to their existing business.

Blogging

Blogging

Blogging is one of the most popular ways to make money online. The investment level is typically low and requires only your time to create content.

To start blogging you will need to choose whether you use a self-hosted solution such as WordPress or a premade system like Wix. You will also need a domain name too.

So How Do You Make Money From Blogging?

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing allows you to share links to other sites which earn you a commission from.
Typically these links are for products and services which may require a customer to convert for you to earn the commission.
Each affiliate program varies but the key to being successful is to present links that offer value to your readers.

Sell Digital Products

Much like Blogging, this method requires your time to create the content. By creating digital products, you can offer them for download at a price.

  • eBooks
  • Online courses/workshops
  • Images, video, or music (media in general)

AdSense

One of the most common ways to make money is to use Ads.
By using Adsense, the blogger does not need to spend time building relationships with advertisers.
Simply sign up, place a banner on your site and let Google choose the relevant content for your readers.

Ecommerce

Ecommerce

Believe it or not, you don’t need to have a tonne of cash to get started in Ecommerce. You don’t even need a website.
Here are some ways you can make money selling products online.

Dropshipping

Dropshipping is where you, the seller, sell the product without holding the stock, that’s right you don’t have to order stock in advance.

Rather than buying the stock from a supplier, you have a relationship where the supplier fulfils the order for you as you sell the stock, sending it straight to your customer.

Its never been easier to get started with exciting solutions like Avasam that unite the seller and supplier on one platform, you can connect with suppliers and list products on the popular marketplaces and your website.

Handmade Products

Do have a hobby? Do you enjoy making things from home? Have you ever considered that someone will pay money for your products?

Well, marketplaces like Etsy exist for the very reason and the best thing is you don’t have to have a surplus of stock as you can make to order.

Great pictures, social presence and great communication are key to being successful.

Buying & Selling

When I talk about buying and selling, I am not referring to the traditional ecommerce model by ordering a container from a manufacturer. This is a more scaled-down version.

This is about going on Gumtree, Craigslist, Charity Shops (thrift stores) and Carboots. You can even collect items for free and sell them online.

eBay and Facebook Marketplace are great places to sell on. If you can recycle the product and give it a different look, then Etsy may be an option too.

Freelancing

Freelancing

Have you a skill that people want, good with excel, photoshop or writing?
No matter the skill there will likely be someone looking to hire you for it.

Sites such as PoeplePerHour, Fiverr and FreeeUp allows you to market your services to the world by creating a profile where you can offer your time for money. Freelancing offers both the employer and yourself flexibility.

The great thing about Freelancing is you can use it for earning extra cash as a side hustle or go all in and use it as a platform to start your own business.

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding

Do you have a product or project which you believe others will love? Do you feel so passionately about it that you know you will have customers? Is the only thing holding you back is money?

Welcome to the world of Crowdfunding! If you have a concept which you want to bring to life then you can use sites like Kickstarter to ask for the publics help.

The usual model is for the public to invest their cash in the concept stage, essential preordering the product with some perks. If you get enough backing, you can use the cash you did not have to chase your dreams.

Another popular alternative to Kickstarter is Indiegogo. And remember, Crowdfunding doesn’t have to be just for startups, established companies such as Mantic Games use it as a platform to launch new lines.

There is even Crowdfunding investment platforms such as CrowdCube for existing business seeking capital, but that is for another post.

Publishing

Publishing a Book

Let’s admit we all have the urge to become an author, and just like blogging you will have knowledge, experience or even a story others want to read about.
The great news is that it has never been easier now to get your book published, unlike going through the traditional model of approaching a publisher, there are solutions out there to become self-published.

Some popular sites like LuLu and Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing will allow you to publish your book whilst they handle the print process. (They also offer e-book formats too.)

The best thing is that you don’t pay for the print of the books upfront as they take the costs of production out during the sale.

Conclusion

I could go into further details on the areas above or carry this post on with a never-ending list of ways to make money online but that would dilute my main aim.

Really what this post is about is bringing awareness to the opportunities that we have today. None of the above is quick money and requires time and commitment, but with the right mindset, you can earn money from very little.

So whether this is you starting something new, trying to build a second income or adding a channel to your existing business, I wish luck, happiness and a positive attitude.

Keep me posted, on social or comments.
