Facebook & eBay Test Daily Deals in Facebook’s Marketplace
- Facebook Market expands into 17 more countries
- Facebook tests eBay Daily Deals
- Facebook to expand out of peer to peer sales
On August 15th 2017 Facebook began showing a new Daily Deals tab on the mobile app for certain users, sourcing its deals directly from eBay.
This new venture allows users of the Facebook Marketplace to browse eBay deals inside the Facebook App. If the customer decides to purchase a product from the eBay deal on Facebook then they need to still check out on the eBay site.
Facebook is conducting tests to see the effectiveness of offering their users discounted products when visiting the marketplace, this coincides with Facebook’s the recent marketplace expansion into 17 European countries, including powerhouses Germany and France.
This is not the first time eBay and Facebook have explored a sales partnership. Last year, eBay was testing a personalized shopping assistant dubbed ShopBot on Facebook’s Messenger app.
How You Can Benefit From This
Currently, as an online seller, you have very little input if any on this programme in its current state. If the testing goes well and becomes a part of the Facebook marketplace then the assumption is as an eBay seller you would be using their Promotions Manager to help get your items on the Facebook Marketplace. As more news is released we will keep you updated.
