More than 50% of consumers in the UK choose next-day-delivery as their most preferred delivery method, according to research carried out by YouGov.
So why are 1 in 5 UK retailers failing to offer a next-day-delivery service?
Interestingly, 65% of retailers offer ‘click & collect’, which only 18% of consumers consider as a preferable delivery method.
What should you be offering?
In their research respondents have been asked, how much extra money they would be able to pay for the different delivery options and the results are;
Same day delivery
34% will not to willing pay anything
40% will pay under £5 extra
Next day delivery
50% spend nothing to get next day delivery
38% will pay up to 5 pounds
Moreover, young consumers aged between 18-24 are more likely to pay for same day delivery compared with people aged 55+ who were the least likely group to spend on same day delivery.
Summarising, the research made by YouGov, over half of respondents said they would choose firstly next-day-deliver, secondly click & collect, and thirdly same day delivery service.
